Olá!, eu estou usando a Clipper Summer87. Toda a ajuda seria apreciada extremamente. Agradecimentos adiantado!!

Please may you write in English too. Your text in portuguese it is missunderstanding. I think a Google translations is not so good... sorry.

At begining let me know if do have conditions to redirect printing spool to a file. If yes, it will becomes easier. Because then you can use a third utility for being print at any printer you want.

Amiguinho/Friend,

You can try a direct report response to a TXT file and use a USBPrint tool.

See here how to download this tool.

Sorry for us PortuGlês, but you can write us in your natural language.

Printing in Clipper

I apologize. I was trying to relate in Portuguese. Apparently, I'm not good in it. Lol!

Anyway, in English:

Hello, I am using Clipper Summer87. I realize this is outdated but I do not have time to upgrade to Harbour and I'm hoping this is a quick fix. This is a small system. The user had a very old printer and could print just fine. Now, her printer has been changed and she can no longer print. I do not know what port she was connected to and I do not know what the old printer was but the new one is an HP Standard TCP/IP port and the model is an HP LaserJet 8000 Series PCL. How would I change the code in the system to print to this printer? I do not know Clipper. This is a system that is in line to be converted to an object oriented program. Meanwhile, she would like to print from this system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I downloaded the USBPrint but I'm not sure how to use it. When I ran the .exe, the command prompt popped up and went away. I didn't get a chance to see anything. I'm not printer experienced either. I guess I'm only good for OO languages. Lol!

I'm not sure if there are conditions to redirect printing spool to a file or not. Unless the third utility is free, we are not in the position to buy one. I was hoping I could get away with just changing the Clipper source code.

I wonder if it would just be easier to save her documents to a specific directory with a name and a .doc extension so she can retrieve the document in Word and print from there??

This option is the best solution. because Clipper is no longer suports for USB printers and Windows printers which only accept to be printed thru printer drive installed in your Windows. To see any quick solution, is taht one that we already apoint to you in messeges before.
the model is an HP LaserJet 8000 Series PCL.
This model can accept command to format fonts t be printed but the problem is connected direct to the computer which is going to be used for Clipper program. But seems that printer is connected in the Windows netware and is connected as more one station ? If this printer you can capture you can try to make capture thru LPT1 then it´s going work fine without any code modification.
I do not know Clipper.
This is a big dificulty, because if you printer is not connected as a station, then you will need to modify the source code of system.

Have with you sources code of system ? If yes, for sure that it can be possible.

USBPrint.exe is free. There are many other options and free cost too.
it would just be easier to save her documents to a specific directory with a name and a .doc extension so she can retrieve the document in Word and print from there??
That is the main idea ! But Not in .doc neither in documents settings folder... Clipper does not create .doc and disconsidere to create file in docs & settings, only in local folder where the system is.
