Im getting this error when copying from Vista to a shared folder on XP client, further more the XP clients system resources are actually flooded and needs to be restarted before it can regain the system resources. Incredibly annoying.
Events: ->Ctrl+C (~700Mb batch or single file) in vista -> Ctrl+V in shared folder on XP = Error in vista and a depleated XP client I have also had about 200 jpeg images self-destruct in this matter, suddenly after a Vista 2 XP transfer they just wouldn't open and had bad and missing header issues. (Relation to 0x800705AD not confirmed)
Quick fix, added November 29, 2007
Error 0x800705AD "insufficient quota to complete the requested service" has been identified to be caused by Computer Associates A/V, EZ Armor and 2007 Suite software not being compatible in network environment where both Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Vista XP reside. File transfer in this environment may cause Error 0x800705AD "insufficient quota to complete the requested service" and result in loss of data.
This conclusion is based upon an exhausting battery of test executed by several individuals whom has actively participated this thread, especially Tom (thank you).
Solution: (At time of writing November 29, 2007) Uninstall Computer Associates A/V, EZ Armor or 2007 Suite.
This is not a permanent solution to this problem and hopefully such solution can be found in the near future by CA and/or by Microsoft. You may also want to consider other possible solutions presented to you in this thread.
