gdbu CLIPPER 5.3B et XP

Buenos dias a todos :
no hablo portuguese, soy frances . Me voy a hablar en ingles :
I have a problem when i execure gdbu.exe (under clipper 5.3b) : i have linked it with exospace, with blinker 7 but :
Under windows xp sp3 ,the program run well at the begining but when i click on 'open a database' on the menu, it ends and return to dos.
I've tried under virtual pc ( dos 6.22 ) and runn good without problem ! So I think it's a question of use of memory ( protected, extended ?)
But I don't find the cause.

I heard some (bad) comments about SP3. I think it's a good idea try with SP2 only. Perhaps the SP3 has a defect that is aborting the program. It's worth trying. Moreover, if SP3 is not essential for you, I don't see why keep it. Remember the popular Windows theory: it's already problematic by itself. Therefore, the more updates, worse will be. Add a little more of difficulties when we talk about the DOS, for obvious reasons. ))

Yes i've heard same things (bad) about sp3 of xp : perhaps it's the reason of this bug
i will try to uninstall sp3 but i think it is not possible ( this update is locked by microsoft ! ) Once installed it's no possible to undo
But another question : Is it possible to run LLib ( i have version 4 complete with tools ) with clipper 5.2e ?
In the llib doc they say to compile with clipper 5.3 or later...and i see in forums that programers using clipper 5.2x use llib ?

I really don't know. And because will be easy to remove if does not work, my suggestion is that you try install it.

Ok, After a first try, it' doesn't work : too many errors when I link (gdbu for example) , even with blinker
Perhaps there is a method i don't know.
I thought this was a solution to use gdbu under a dos windows of xp.

What is the more pretty graphical library to use with clipper, for you ?
I'm trying some of these but it's no easy : i would transform some text software to graphic's

None. I don't use graphical interface in my DOS applications. By the way, I don't develop in DOS anymore. I'm working just with CodeGear C++ Builder. Not only GUI but in console mode too.

But if you are planning to work in GUI mode, and still with XBase, my best conseul is: learn a bit more about [X]Harbour and its graphical libraries. Clipper is a obsolete tool.

Yes Clipper is obsolete, sure when we see all compilers under windows 32 or 64 bits !!
I'm trying to unserstand Harbour, Xharbour and FiveWin for Harbour : i use Harbour with Hmg MiniGui (Visual interface easy to work)
and Bcc 5.5.1 ( also Ms Visual c++ 6 )
I use delphi personal edition 6 + My Little Base, Visual basic 5 and others currently.

But my way is by nostalgy of clipper to make software in graphical mode, it's just a game !
