Back from Win 10 Bloody and Beaten
Hi All:
After having successfully upgraded from Win XP Pro thru Win 7 Pro to Win
10 Pro on an older hardly used machine, I decided to gamble( :
I decided to upgrade my current Win 7 Pro dev machine (with Win XP Mode
running under the Windows Virtual PC app) to Windows 10.
I made this decision because the Win 10 notices assured me that *all* my
apps would run under Win 10 (the most critical being my XP Mode under the
Virtual PC app).
Well, it DID NOT run at all !
So, I reverted back to a Win 7 Pro machine (thankfully, it was easy to
do), and I am bloody and beaten by this scary experience. The reversion was
easy, quick and thorough.
I (stupidly) placed the only up-to-date file of my extensive password
list in the XP mode machine, and did my backups there too.
So, when I went to run the XP mode and could not -- then I also lost
access to my password file *and* the Cox Backup app there.
So, I'm back safe again bloody, beaten, and proven stupid too !
Take great care if you decide to upgrade !
